From 5 months of age male cattle were in 5 groups of 4 each and fed on a basal diet containing an adequate amount of a reconstituted whole milk replacer (WMR), without or with the WMR replaced by 100 or 200 g of a protein-vitamin-mineral supplement (PVMS), alone or with additional 66 mg Mikrovit A (containing 20 000 IU vitamin A), or a preparation containing 50% vitamin E at 30 mg/kg feed mixture.
