Digestibility of nutrients with different forms of fibre and energy in piglets

In two balance trials with 18 piglets the effect was studied of different sources of fibre and of energy on the digestibility of nutrients and nitrogen utilization of isonitrogenous feed mixtures. There was no significant difference in the digestibility of nutrients between the mixtures where fibre was provided by the feed alone or with added cellulose or ground barley straw. The digestibility of fibre was insignificantly lower in the first group.
