Digestibility of protein and water and nitrogen balances: studies on mink given different amounts of protein

Digestibility of protein and water and nitrogen balances: studies on mink given different amounts of protein

Deutsche Pelztierzuchter 60(3): 41-44

During 4 days faeces and urine were collected from 4 groups of 5 male pastel mink about 19 weeks old given protein at 0, 19.0, 34.8 or 52.8% of metabolizable energy. With protein, feed intake averaged 78.7 to 112.2 g DM daily, being most in the low-protein group, and 46.5 g without protein. Digestibility of protein did not differ significantly among groups. Without protein mink lost weight, but on low-protein diet gained most.
