Chemical composition of the solid fraction of pig slurry (SFPS) was: DM 91.59, crude protein 11.23, crude fibre 27.36, ash 11.84, ether extract 1.75 and N-free extract 47.82%. SFPS was incubated in the rumens of 3 wethers with rumen fistulae for 24, 36 and 48 h. Wheat straw and meadow hay were also tested for comparison.
