Digestion and utilization of nutrients in cows at various levels of productivity

Digestion and utilization of nutrients in cows at various levels of productivity

Fiziologo biokhimicheskie osnovy vysokoi produktivnosti sel' skokhozyaistvennykh zhivotnykh: 42-45

Cows were divided into 2 groups according to whether they produced 14 or 8 kg of milk daily. The high producers took 21.5% more DM but ate 30.6% less feed for each kg of milk produced. In the high producers the rate of digestion in the digestive tract was greater. Digestibility of nutrients was about the same in the two groups, but the amount of material digested was greater in the high producers.
