Digestion of cattle slurry in a plug flow biogas unit

Digestion of cattle slurry in a plug flow biogas unit

Rapport, Proefstation voor de Rundveehouderij, Schapenhouderij en Paardenhouderij (93): 36 pp

Experiences over 3 yr with a methane producing unit operating with the plug flow system on an experimental farm are described. Slurry is pumped in at 1 end of the holding tank and pumped out at the other, thus it is not necessary to stir the tank contents as the slurry moves gradually to the outlet. An advantage of this system is that non-digested and digested slurry are not mixed.
