Digestion of protein in ruminating calves

Digestion of protein in ruminating calves

Archiv fur Tierernahrung 33(12): 853-862

The influence of different sources of protein on digestion of nitrogen in the forestomachs was investigated with 10 calves of average age 12 weeks supplied with duodenal re-entrant cannulae. Of the soyabean meal N in the standard ration (A) half or all was replaced by urea N (B) or lucerne N (C). The crude protein concentration in the test rations varied between 17 and 19%.
