Dilution and liquid preservation of semen - a possible way of improving breeding work and rationalising artificial insemination in poultry

Dilution and liquid preservation of semen - a possible way of improving breeding work and rationalising artificial insemination in poultry

Monatshefte fur Veterinarmedizin 40(4): 135-138

The authors' work on the use of the Blumberg poultry semen diluent, containing sodium glutamate, glucose and potassium acetate, is reviewed. After storage of semen diluted 1:1 in the medium for 6 h at 2 degrees -5 degrees C, insemination doses of 0.05 ml resulted in an egg fertility of 92.4% and hatchability of fertile eggs of 76.4%.
