Dimensional analysis of wood elements in sapwood and heartwood of six angiosperm trees

Dimensional analysis of wood elements in sapwood and heartwood of six angiosperm trees

Indian Journal of Forestry 7(3): 196-201

Averages and ranges of dimensions of vessel elements, rays, axial parenchyma cells, procumbent ray cells and fibres are given for the heartwood and sapwood of Acacia auriculiformis, Anogeissus latifolia, Garuga pinnata, Ougeinia oojeinensis, Samanea saman and Terminalia crenulata. Some of the elements underwent great changes in size during differentiation, but the cambial initials were to some extent responsible for determining the diameters or dimensions of the mature elements.
