Dimensional and weighted characteristics of sugarcane productivity. Basic data for an alternative line of research and technological development in sugarcane culture

Dimensional and weighted characteristics of sugarcane productivity. Basic data for an alternative line of research and technological development in sugarcane culture

Special Publication, Instituto do Acucar e do Alcool (1/82): 52

The possibility of increasing yields depends more on identifying criteria for optimizing the values of variables of a productivity model than upon studies of specific cultural practices and their effects on the crop. A theoretical equation and a model of productivity are proposed and discussed. Research and development should be based on refinements of this model which should include parameters reflecting crop behaviour in commercial conditions.
