Diminazene/Berenil: bioavailability and disposition in dairy goats

Single doses of diminazene diaceturate at 2 mg diminazene base per kg intravenously (i/v) and 3.5 diminazene base per kg intramuscularly (i/m) were given to three goats on two occasions 6 weeks apart. Plasma, urine, milk and plasma protein binding values were determined, and the kinetic data are tabulated. Disappearance from plasma after i/v injection showed three exponential phases. Total body clearance was 0.656 +or- 0.08 ml/min/kg, and renal clearance 0.072 +or- 0.007.
