Dinitrogen fixation in soybean in response to leaf water stress and seed growth rate

Dinitrogen fixation in soybean in response to leaf water stress and seed growth rate

Crop Science 25: 52-58

In controlled environment studies, nodulated plants of soyabean Ransom were grown with no nutrient N supply and exposed to short or long photoperiods at the beginning of seed development. Within each photoperiod plants were unstressed or subjected to 5 days leaf water stress of -1.2 to -1.8 MPa at the full seed stage. N accumulation from N fixation decreased during reproductive growth in stressed plants but not in unstressed plants.
