In field trials at Rosemount, Minnesota, N fixation and DM distribution of Lotus corniculatus and Trifolium pratense sown in 1977 were studied over the following 4 years of management for hay production. DM yields did not differ significantly between years for L. corniculatus (4.4-8.5 t/ha) but were significantly lower in 1980 (4.8 t) than the other years (7.0-10.1 t) for T. pratense.
