Diosgenin content in different organs of Allium nutans L. introduced in the Moscow region

The productivity of underground parts (rhizomes, roots and bulbs) in vegetatively propagated plants was greatest in the 4th year. Diosgenin content in the underground parts increased with age and was highest in the 4th (0.68%) and 5th (0.71%) growing years. In the 4th year inflorescences of plants with dove-coloured leaves had the highest diosgenin content (2.32% compared with 1.41% in inflorescences of plants with green leaves) and seeds had the lowest diosgenin content (0.10%).
