Four lines of Aberdeen-Angus cattle (4 sires and 50 cows per line) were established as part of a long-term selection project. Performance data were collected on 2749 calves from 1964 to 1979. Lines were selected for body weight, weaning weight at 1 yr of age, and a combination of individual and progeny weaning weights. The 4th line was maintained as an unselected control line to monitor yearly environmental changes.
