Direct and maternal genetic differences and influence of litter size in lines of mice selected for litter size and body weight

Direct and maternal genetic differences and influence of litter size in lines of mice selected for litter size and body weight

Dissertation Abstracts International, B Sciences and Engineering 45(10): 3157

In the 1st of 2 studies, progeny from a line selected for increased 6-wk body weight (line W) and one selected for increased litter size (L) were compared with progeny from 8 crosses, reciprocal F1s and F2s, and 4 backcrosses. For traits of the dams, genetic differences estimated were direct average (gD), direct heterosis (hD), maternal average (gM), progeny average (gp) and progeny heterosis (hp).
