Direct crop covering for advancing the harvest of Chinese cabbage

Direct crop covering for advancing the harvest of Chinese cabbage

Boer en de Tuinder 91(2): 14

Four Chinese cabbage cultivars (Granaat, Hong Kong, Nagaoka and Spring A1) were sown on 9 March and raised at 21 degrees C until 28 March, followed by hardening-off for 3 days in a cold greenhouse; they were then transplanted in the field and direct-covered with perforated plastic sheeting until 27 April. Early yields (20 May) were highest with Nagaoka.
