Lolium multiflorum Grasslands Tama, Bromus catharticus Grasslands Matua and Festuca arundinacea AF5 or Demeter were sown in 1980-83 by direct drilling into Paspalum dilatatum and Pennisetum clandestinum pastures. Before sowing in March 1980, pastures were either slashed, or slashed and sprayed with 0.28 kg paraquat or 0.5 kg glyphosate/ha. In 1982 and 1983, grasses were sown at 5-week intervals from late Jan. to early June.
