Direct inhibition of follicular growth by steroid-free follicular fluid

In each of 3 groups, 4 hypophysectomised Corriedale ewes received no treatment (group 1), were injected intramuscularly with 1500 and 750 IU PMSG on days 1 and 2 of the experiment resp. (group 2), or received the same treatment as group-2 ewes plus 2 ml charcoal-stripped ovine follicular fluid each morning and night from the evening prior to day 1 until ovariectomy 48 h after the 1st PMSG injection (group 3).
