Direct single or double covering of carrots (Daucus carota L.)

Carrots (cv. Amsterdamse Zoete Bak) were sown on 11 January and covered on 12 January with (i) polyethylene film (PE 500) with 500 perforations/msuperscript 2, (ii) PE film (PE 1000) with 1000 perforations/msuperscript 2, (iii) PP-Growtect-Lutrasil film (PP) (16 g/msuperscript 2), or (iv) PE 1000 film covered with PE 500 or PP film. Film (i) was removed on 10 May, films (ii) and (iii) on 30 May and the two films (iv) at various dates between 20 April and 30 May. Harvest was on 12 June.
