Distribution of 14C-assimilates in young Golden Delicious apple trees with dwarfing or vigorous interstem

Distribution of 14C-assimilates in young Golden Delicious apple trees with dwarfing or vigorous interstem

Fruit Science Reports 12(3): 97-102

Greenhouse trials were carried out with trees on MM.106 rootstocks with P22 or A2 interstocks grafted in April. On 21 June, 16 August or 20 September the trees were exposed to 14CO2 for 1 h and distribution of labelled assimilates was assessed 48 h later. Over 50% was found in the leaves. In June most assimilates were found in the new growth whereas in August and September they were found in roots.
