Downy mildew of melon due to Pseudoperonospora cubensis (Berk. & Curt.) Rostow

Av. sizes of the sporangia on 10 infected samples of Jolli were 22.6-36.2 x 25.7 micro at 18 degrees C and 24-35 x 10-18 micro at 25 degrees -28 degrees. The mean length:breadth ratio at 18 degrees was 1.67-1.14. Zoospores were 3-5 x 6-7 micro. Germination was best (95%) at 20 degrees , being 32% at 25 degrees and 20% at 15 degrees. Sporangia germinated indirectly when very mature and directly when younger.
