Effect of Ht resistance genes on corn leaf blight caused by Helminthosporium turcicum Pass

In the 20 F1 hybrid maize populations from a diallel of 5 inbred lines which differ in resistance to H. turcicum resistance was assessed after inoculation and also under severe natural infection. Analysis of the results showed that the inheritance of resistance is mainly additive, with partial dominance playing a minor role. Nonallelic interactions were absent. Dominant genes for resistance were most numerous in line C103Ht1. Resistance was high in this line and also in Oh43Ht1 and Oh43Ht2.
