Effect of age on the technical qualities of pine wood

Wood density, MOE and the proportion of defect-free wood were determined for sawtimber and middle dimension wood, 40-130 yr old, from forests of site class I and II. Significant correlations were found between age and location of the forest and wood properties. Max. amount of defect-free timber came from stands 120-130 yr old.
