Effect of boron and molybdenum in presence and absence of phosphorus and calcium on groundnut

Field experiments were conducted at Kanpur and Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh, India, to study the effect of boron and molybdenum application, in presence and absence of phosphorus and calcium, on groundnut variety 'Type 28'. Application of 11.2 kg borax/ha gave maximum increase in yield at Kanpur, whereas at Mainpuri a lower dose of 5.6 kg/ha was found optimal. Molybdenum also showed favorable effect on groundnut. The response to phosphorus was observed at Kanpur while at Mainpuri it showed no response. Calcium failed to affect yield of groundnut at either of the locations. Shelling percentage, kernel weight, oil content and its other quality constituents were little influenced by different treatments.
