Effect of dietary pyridoxine on alanine and aspartate aminotransferases in the silkworm, Bombyx mori (Lepidoptera: Bombycidae)

High activities of alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase were detected in the mid-gut, fat-body tissues and silk glands of male 5th-instar larvae of Bombyx mori which had been reared on mulberry leaves or synthetic diet. The order of activity of alanine aminotransferase was silk glands > mid-gut > fat-body, and of aspartate aminotransferase was fat-body > mid-gut >> silk glands.
