Effect of inorganic salts on the toxicity and translocation of glyphosate and MSMA in purple nutsedge (Cyperus rotundus)
The activity of glyphosate and MSMA against C. rotundus was generally increased by the addition of the cations NH4+ K+ and Na+ and to a lesser degree the anion PO43-. Zn2+ and Fe3+ frequently reduced the activity of both compounds, whereas Ca2+ had little or no effect on activity. C1-, NO3-, CO32-, and SO42- resulted in increased, decreased or unchanged glyphosate activity depending on the associated cation.
