Effect of restriction of protein or energy or both and refeeding on the nitrogen balance of fattening pigs

Effect of restriction of protein or energy or both and refeeding on the nitrogen balance of fattening pigs

Zeitschrift fur Tierphysiologie, Tierernahrung und Futtermittelkunde 52(4/5): 173-182

From 25 to 55 kg body weight 4 groups of 6 German Landrace barrows had pelleted feed fulfilling protein and energy requirements (control) or with 25% reduction of protein or energy content or both. During refeeding, to 70 kg, all were fed according to requirement. Balance tests were made at 40 kg and 4 times during refeeding. Performance was monitored during both periods.
