Effect of sowing date on two rabi sorghum genotypes under irrigation - II. Grain yield, its components and nutrient uptake

Grain yield of sorghum CSH-8R sown in the field at 15 day intervals from 1 Aug. to 16 Dec. 1976 was 2.28, 5.27 and 1.95 t/ha with sowing on 1 Aug., 1 Oct. and 16 Dec., resp. Corresponding yields of R-16 were 1.16, 3.56 and 1.40 t/ha. Grain weight/ear, grain:straw ratio, harvest index and total N uptake followed a similar trend. Sowing date had less effect on 1000-grain weight.
