Effect of the amount of energy in the diet on performance and carcass yields of broiler chickens

From hatching, 2 groups of male and female Indian River chickens were given diets with protein 23, 21 and 19% from 1 to 21, 22 to 42 and 43 to 56 days old and metabolizable energy 3200 or 2900 kcal/kg. Mean final weight was 2134.7 and 1980.6 g. Feed conversion efficiency was better and carcass weight and yield significantly greater with the greater amount of dietary energy.
