Effects of the interaction between Erysiphe graminis f.sp. hordei and Puccinia hordei on barley with regard to epidemiological aspects

Inoculation with E. graminis f.sp. hordei at 10 mildew pustules/cmsuperscript 2 2-6 d before inoculation with P. hordei inhibited development of uredinia; at 15-20 pustules/cmsuperscript 2 uredinial development was almost totally prevented. The onset of P. hordei fructification was delayed, and its sporulation period shortened. Numbers of urediniospores/uredinium/day and /unit leaf area were reduced.
