Energy saving in the greenhouse: a trial for two new cladding materials

In a 3-year trial, Hortiplus glass and Ecocal double-glazing were compared with normal glass. Despite a 7-8% light reduction with Hortiplus and Ecocal there were no losses in yield with lettuce, broad-leaved endive, lambs' lettuce, radish, tomato and cucumber, and yields were sometimes higher. Average energy savings were 24% for Hortiplus and 34% with Ecocal.
