In vitro excystation of E. tenella oocysts removed from the caeca of dead chicks by chemical treatment as described by Myberg et al., 1968 yielded 90% excystation and release of sporocysts. Sonication yielded 50% excystation after 3 treatments of 30 sec and 90% excystation after 5 treatments.
