Experimental incorporation of eukaryotic DNA into a bacterial cell chromosome

Doklady Akademii Nauk SSSR 276(6): 1491-1494

Eukaryotic DNA in the form of chromosomal DNA extracts from seedlings of the bread wheat Chinese Spring was incorporated into a chromosome of Bacillus subtilis using the bacterial plasmid pGC10 as a vector. Molecular hybridization tests confirmed that the wheat DNA was present in the bacterial chromosome.
