Experimental infection of gray wolves (Canis lupus) with canine parvovirus

Experimental infection of gray wolves (Canis lupus) with canine parvovirus

Wildlife Disease Newsletter (April): 4

All of ten wolf cubs inoculated intranasally with virulent canine parvovirus at 10-12 weeks of age developed circulating antibody. Of the eight that yielded parvovirus from faeces, seven were clinically affected with vomiting, blood-stained diarrhoea and dehydration. All recovered without treatment. PM examination of six revealed typical gross and histological lesions of canine parvovirus infection.
