Slow viruses in sheep, goats and cattle: 291-296



Experiments conducted since 1972 have shown that infection with visna-maedi virus can be controlled by artificial rearing of lambs (not given colostrum), and this was the best method for valuable breeding stock. An alternative was six-monthly serological testing, and the culling of reactors.
