In three camels inoculated intravenously with Trypanosoma brucei brucei, the parasite was first detected in the blood 2-4 days after inoculation. Parasitaemia persisted and could be demonstrated almost daily to the end of the observation period of three months. There was an initial fever, a decline in haematocrit (from 29-34% to 20-26%) and in haemoglobin (from 12.7-14.9 to 10.1-12.7 g/100 ml) and absence of severe clinical symptoms.
