Experimental observations on the efficacy of specific transfer factor and immuno-ribonucleic acid against schistosome infection

Experimental observations on the efficacy of specific transfer factor and immuno-ribonucleic acid against schistosome infection

Ji Sheng Chong Xue Yu Ji Sheng Chong Bing Za Zhi 4(1): 39-41

Preliminary work with rabbits infected with Schistosoma japonicum showed that intramuscular injections of specific transfer factor (STF) or immuno-ribonucleic acid (IRNA) from the spleens of heavily S. japonicum-infected rabbits did not immunize rabbits, but a combination of sera from rabbits immunized with adult schistosome antigen (IgG) and STF, or of IRNA and IgG provided significant protection, particularly when given prior to, or within 14 days of, cercarial infection.
