A daily dose of Gramoxone in the drinking water, representing 356 ppm of paraquat, was administered for four days to ten 6-week-old broilers (all of which survived for 90 days), and for 11 days (i.e. until death) to another ten. From the second day, the chickens were disturbed and staggering, depression occurred on the third day, and, on the fourth, a discharge from the nose.
