Experimental releases of two strains of Trichogramma spp. against lepidopteran pests in a Brussels sprouts field crop in the Netherlands

Experimental releases of two strains of Trichogramma spp. against lepidopteran pests in a Brussels sprouts field crop in the Netherlands

Mededelingen van de Faculteit Landbouwwetenschappen, Rijksuniversiteit Gent 49(3a): 803-813

Major pests of brassicas (including cabbage and Brussels sprouts) in the Netherlands are Brevicoryne brassicae, Delia brassicae Mamestra brassicae, Pieris rapae and P. brassicae, which together require 5-10 spray applications each season. In an experiment in Wageningen, 180 000 individuals of Trichogramma evanescens were released fortnightly in June-September for the control of the Lepidoptera.
