Experimental results with the apple cultivar Golden Delicious grown in meadow orchards

Experimental results with the apple cultivar Golden Delicious grown in meadow orchards

Lucrarile Stiintifice ale Institutului de Cercetare si Productie pentru Pomicultura Pitesti 10: 77-87

The effects of 2 densities (22 200 or 31 700 trees/ha) and 3 training methods (single, double or multiple trunks) were compared for trees grown on MM.106 rootstocks during 1974-79. The first training method produced 21.2 to 44.1 t/ha, the second 56.1 to 90.6 t and the third 37.6 to 90.4 t/ha. Yield/tree was higher at the lower density but yield/unit area was similar for the two densities.
