Experimental sheep toxoplasmosis. II. Parasitemia and tissue infections

Experimental sheep toxoplasmosis. II. Parasitemia and tissue infections

Ars Veterinaria 1(1): 69-76

In 6 of 8 sheep dosed with Toxoplasma gondii (Beverley strain) oocysts or cysts, parasitaemia occurred during the acute phase of the infection, and also after 42 days, after illness had subsided. PM examination, 36-93 days after infection, revealed pancreas and intestine as the organs most frequently infected. Skeletal muscle contained parasites in one of the three sheep killed on day 36.
