Experimental studies on the nitrogen nutrition of the prairie legume Cassia fasciculata

Experimental studies on the nitrogen nutrition of the prairie legume Cassia fasciculata

Dissertation Abstracts International, B Sciences and Engineering 44(11): 3281

In field trials with C. fasciculata, high levels of N fertilizer had no effect because fertilizer N was not incorporated into the legume. Greenhouse studies showed that assimilation of 15N-labelled N resulted in increased fruit abortion. N fixation was the predominant N source for plants even if the plants were subjected to water stress.
