In laboratory studies in Western Siberia, USSR, involving Aedes diantaeus, A. punctor, A. cinereus, A. flavescens, A. aegypti, Culex pipiens, Anopheles messeae and A. atroparvus, attempts to infect larvae orally with spores of the microsporidia Amblyospora opacita var. sibirica, Parathelohania costatus (apparently recently described), P. obesa or P. anophelis failed.
