The combined effects of temperature and photoperiod on the growth of Tetanocera ferruginea was studied in the laboratory in France. The fluctuations in the duration of the cycle and of the food biomass consumed by the larvae were analysed, and also the factors inducing pupal diapause. From these results the general phenology of T. ferruginea could be calculated and the different instars distinguished.
