Experimental study on healing of topical application of thyrocalcitonin on jaw defects in dogs

Experimental study on healing of topical application of thyrocalcitonin on jaw defects in dogs

Pakistan Veterinary Journal 5(1): 5-11

Six groups (3 experimental and 3 control), each of twelve dogs, were used in the present study. A circumscribed mandibular defect was filled with fresh rib autogenous graft (group I & IV), preserved homogenous graft (group II & V) and pre-cut piece of collagen (group III & VI). Calcitonin (CT) was topically applied to that defect in the experimental groups I, II and III. Thyrocalcitonin had no adverse effects when used at the recommended dose level.
