Experimental trials of an irradiated vaccine against Tetrameres mohtedai Bhalerao and Rao, 1944 infection in chicks and certain host responses

Experimental trials of an irradiated vaccine against Tetrameres mohtedai Bhalerao and Rao, 1944 infection in chicks and certain host responses

Indian Veterinary Journal 61(12): 1018-1023

Larvae of T. mohtedai collected from grasshoppers that had been irradiated at 2 to 8 kr and then fed to chicks, developed normally within the host, reaching sexual maturity 24 days after infection. Gravid females were recovered 24 to 39 days after infection. Development of the larvae and pattern of infection were similar to those from non-irradiated grasshoppers. A challenge infection with 200 T. mohtedai larvae from non-irradiated grasshoppers also developed normally.
