105 Bos indicus X Bos taurus cows and heifers were treated as follows: (1) given 2 injections, each of 500 mu g cloprostenol (PGF2 alpha ), with an interval of 11 days between injections, and were inseminated 72 + 96 h after treatment; (2) given 2 cloprostenol injections + 0.01 mg of an ovulation-inducing hormone (Buserelin; GnRH analogue) at insemination, 74 h after cloprostenol treatment; (3) treated as for group 2, but were inseminated twice, 72 + 96 h after cloprostenol treatment; (4) allowed to run with bulls for 30 days (controls). In the 3 experimental groups, the 17- to 25-day NR rate was 64.0, 79.7 and 73.91% resp., and the CR to 1st insemination 32.0, 37.5 and 52.17%. Overall CR was 48.0, 45.83 and 69.57% resp. in the 3 experimental groups vs. 60.61% for the controls, and the number of inseminations per pregnancy averaged 4.92, 2.64 and 3.25 vs. 1.45.
