Experiments on the control of oak mistletoe (Loranthus europaeus) with herbicides

Experiments on the control of oak mistletoe (Loranthus europaeus) with herbicides

Centralblatt fur das Gesamte Forstwesen 103(2): 107-122

A description is given of a method of controlling L. europaeus by injecting herbicides into tree stems. The herbicides must be injected into the tissue of the last annual ring at 20-30 cm above ground level. A tree injector and a chisel developed for this purpose are described and illustrated. The method was tested by injecting container oak plants artificially inoculated with L. europaeus and highly infected oaks in the field with MCPB and MCPP Mecoprop was highly effective and acted quickly.
