Experiments on the epidemiology of listeriosis

Experiments on the epidemiology of listeriosis

Allategeszsegugyi es Takarmanyozasi Kozlemenyek (4): 242-251

121 of 214 listeria strains were beta-haemolytic while 22 were alpha-haemolytic. Strains isolated from pathological specimens were all beta-haemolytic and belonged to serotypes 1/2 or 4b. New serological variants were isolated from human faecal samples obtained from different parts of Hungary, mainly from persons working with animals. The sensitivity of the isolated strains to antibiotics was investigated. A detailed analysis is given of human infection and carriage.
